Our <strong>People Operating System</strong> helps organisations across Europe manage HR, payroll, and employee experience in one place.</p><p style="min-height:1.5em">As a <strong>Staff Software Engineer</strong>, you will join the <strong>Pay Connect group</strong>, working within the <strong>Money domain</strong>. This domain is responsible for how compensation is represented, managed, and processed across Personio.</p><p style="min-height:1.5em">Everything from <strong>base salary and hourly pay to bonuses, equity, and benefits</strong> flows through this part of the platform. The systems built in this area power both Personio’s compensation management features and the data that ultimately feeds into payroll.</p><p style="min-height:1.5em">This role will play a key part in evolving how compensation is modeled, scaled, and integrated across the platform as Personio continues to expand into <strong>global payroll and new compensation models</strong>.</p><p style="min-height:1.5em"></p><h2>What You’ll Do</h2><ul style="min-height:1.5em"><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">Lead technical design and architecture within the Money domain</p></li><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">Build and evolve systems that manage compensation data across Personio</p></li><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">Develop capabilities supporting different compensation types such as salary, bonuses, benefits, and equity</p></li><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">Contribute to features within Personio’s <strong>Compensation Management product</strong></p></li><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">Collaborate closely with product teams to translate complex compensation requirements into scalable systems</p></li><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">Improve data correctness, reliability, and performance across critical payroll inputs</p></li><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">Act as a <strong>technical multiplier</strong>, helping engineers across the team deliver high-quality systems</p></li><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">Contribute hands-on to the codebase, spending roughly <strong>50% of your time coding</strong><br /></p></li></ul><h2>What We’re Looking For</h2><p style="min-height:1.5em">We’re looking for an experienced Staff Engineer who combines strong technical depth with a strong product mindset.</p><p style="min-height:1.5em">You likely bring:</p><ul style="min-height:1.5em"><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">Extensive experience designing and building <strong>large-scale backend systems</strong></p></li><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">Strong experience working in <strong>product-driven engineering environments</strong></p></li><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">A track record of driving <strong>technical strategy and architectural improvements</strong></p></li><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">Experience working with <strong>complex domain models and high-accuracy data systems</strong></p></li><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">The ability to influence engineering direction across teams</p></li><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">Strong hands-on coding ability alongside technical leadership<br /></p></li></ul><p style="min-height:1.5em">Nice to have:</p><ul style="min-height:1.5em"><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">Experience working on <strong>financial, payroll, or compensation systems</strong></p></li><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">Experience designing systems where <strong>data correctness and accuracy are critical</strong></p></li><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">Experience working in <strong>large SaaS platforms</strong><br /></p></li></ul><h2>Why Join This Team</h2><p style="min-height:1.5em">The Money domain sits at the heart of Personio’s platform.</p><p style="min-height:1.5em">Compensation data is one of the <strong>core inputs into payroll</strong>, alongside time tracking and employee data.
